Overview

Discover one of the most authentic journeys in northern Ecuador with our Otavalo, Peguche Waterfall & Cotacachi Tour , a perfect blend of culture, nature, and traditional craftsmanship.

The tour begins as we head towards Otavalo , also known as San Luis de Otavalo , located at 2,550 meters above sea level . Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic views of vast rose plantations — one of the region’s main export products.

We’ll stop at the famous Mira Lago viewpoint , offering stunning panoramic views of Lake San Pablo (3.5 km long and 48 meters deep), and in the distance, the majestic silhouette of the Imbabura Volcano (4,640 m.a.s.l.).

Next, we visit the heart of Otavalo’s culture: the Plaza de los Ponchos , the largest and most famous artisan market in South America. Here, you can explore colorful stalls filled with handwoven textiles, jewelry, musical instruments, ceramics, paintings, and unique handmade crafts made by local artisans.

We continue with a short 20-minute walk to the Peguche Waterfall , a sacred site used for purification rituals by indigenous communities. You’ll see giant eucalyptus trees and native wildlife along the way.

Finally, we arrive in Cotacachi , known as the “City of Leather” , where you’ll find beautifully crafted leather goods such as wallets, jackets, hats, bags, belts, and more — all made by skilled artisans who preserve this craft as part of their cultural heritage.

This journey full of color, history, and tradition is a must if you’re visiting the Ecuadorian highlands.
